Zelensky Contemplates March Presidential Elections Amid Ukraine War

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is considering holding presidential elections as scheduled in March 2024, despite the ongoing war with Russia. Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba acknowledged the logistical and security challenges involved in conducting free and fair elections during wartime, with millions of voters living abroad or in territories occupied by Russia. Meanwhile, Russia launched a mass drone attack against Ukraine, targeting infrastructure facilities and civilian sites in multiple regions. The death toll from a previous missile strike on a postal depot rose to eight. The US announced a new $425 million military aid package for Ukraine, including munitions and anti-drone technology. Moldova's security chief revealed that Russia has spent over $55 million on a destabilization campaign in the country. President Zelensky also appointed a new head of the Special Operations Forces.
