Escalating Violence and Evacuations in Sudan: Latest Updates.

The White House National Security Council spokesperson, John Kirby, confirmed the death of a second American citizen in Sudan on Tuesday. Kirby extended condolences to the family and urged the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces to ensure the protection of civilians and noncombatants. The U.S. is actively facilitating the departure of a relatively small number of Americans who have indicated they want to leave. At least 459 people, including civilians and fighters, have been killed, and over 4,000 wounded since fighting began. The U.S. remains focused on getting the ceasefire extended for a meaningful period of time and eventually getting the fighting factions to start talking about a transition to civilian authority.
