Journalists Face Consequences for Signing Israel-Gaza War Protest Letters

Jazmine Hughes, an award-winning staff writer for The New York Times Magazine, has resigned from the publication after violating the newsroom's policies by signing a letter that expressed support for Palestinians and protested Israel's siege in Gaza. This is the second time Hughes has violated the policy, as she had previously signed a letter protesting the newspaper's reporting on transgender issues. The editor of The New York Times Magazine, Jake Silverstein, stated that her desire to publicly express her positions and participate in protests is incompatible with being a journalist at The Times.
