Iceland's Grindavik Volcano Erupts Following Earthquake Swarm

An eruption has started north of Grindavík in Iceland after weeks of seismic activity and tens of thousands of earthquakes in the region. The exact location and size of the eruption are still being confirmed. The town of Grindavík and its residents were evacuated, including the popular tourist destination Blue Lagoon. Large cracks and damage to roads have been observed, and sulfur dioxide levels prompted further evacuations. The Icelandic Meteorologic Office warned of the eruption following a swarm of earthquakes and the formation of a graben-like structure due to magma intrusion.
