Rep. George Santos, who is facing federal indictment on fraud and money laundering charges, received $85,000 from his campaign in the second quarter of this year. The payments were loan repayments from the hundreds of thousands of dollars Santos had previously loaned to his campaign. Despite spending little on campaigning, Santos reported raising $133,000, with the loan repayments accounting for over 60% of the total. He currently has $55,000 cash on hand and received maximum donations from individuals listing their professions as "student" and "housewife." Santos is facing challengers from both parties in his bid for reelection in a district that Biden won in 2020.
