Japan urges China to release detained national and protests maritime action.

Japan's Foreign Minister, Yoshimasa Hayashi, has urged China to release a jailed Japanese national during his first visit to Beijing in over three years. Hayashi also expressed concerns over China's military activity and its collaboration with Russia, as well as its maritime presence in the East China Sea. The two countries agreed to restart talks with South Korea, despite Japan's recent announcement of export restrictions on semiconductor manufacturing equipment. China warned Japan "not to play accomplice to an evildoer" regarding the new restrictions.
