Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has removed his son, Shotaro, from his position as executive secretary for political affairs due to "inappropriate behaviour" after photos of a private party held at the official prime minister's residence last year were published. The younger Kishida was seen posing in the position reserved for the prime minister in the photos. The move comes after mounting public outrage and criticism from opposition legislators. Shotaro Kishida was appointed as policy secretary in October, which was criticised as nepotism.
