Poll shows Brazil’s presidential race tightening as Bolsonaro narrows Lula’s lead

A Nexus/BTG poll indicates a tight Brazil presidential race: in a first-round scenario Lula leads Bolsonaro 41% to 37% (with Caiado 5%, Renan Santos 4%, Zema 3%), and in a simulated runoff Lula would edge Bolsonaro 46% to 45%. The survey of 2,002 people conducted July 31–Aug 2 has a 2-point margin of error, and Lula, age 80, was officially named the Workers’ Party candidate for a fourth term.
