Sudanese Paramilitaries Seize Presidential Palace

Sudan's Rapid Support Forces (RSF) claimed to have taken control of key sites, including the presidential palace, army chief's residence, and Khartoum international airport, in an apparent coup attempt. The RSF accused the army of attacking them first and said they had seized airports in Merowe and El-Obeid. Clashes erupted between the RSF and the army, with gunfire heard in several parts of Khartoum and adjoining cities. The hostilities followed days of tension between the army and the RSF, which could undermine efforts to return Sudan to civilian rule after power struggles and military coups.
