Zardari Re-elected as President of Pakistan

Asif Ali Zardari, the widower of Benazir Bhutto, has been elected as Pakistan's president for a second term, supported by the ruling coalition after an election marred by rigging claims. Zardari secured 411 votes, while his opponent, backed by the party of imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan, received 181 votes. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party has alleged nationwide rigging and is fighting a case for the allocation of seats reserved for women and minorities in the assembly. Zardari, who previously held the presidency from 2008 to 2013, is expected to be sworn in at a ceremony on Sunday.
