Rising Campus Antisemitism: A Threat to Academic Freedom

A study by the Anti-Defamation League and Hillel International reveals that 73% of Jewish college students in the US have witnessed or experienced antisemitism on campus since the start of the Israel-Hamas conflict, an increase from 63% in 2021. In comparison, 44% of non-Jewish students reported similar experiences. The survey also found that Jewish students' feelings of physical and emotional safety on campus significantly decreased after the conflict began. The study highlights the need for college leaders to address the rising antisemitism and ensure the safety and support of Jewish students. Several schools, including Ivy League institutions, are currently under federal investigation for antisemitism and islamophobia.
