EU Implements Stricter Regulations on Pornhub and XVideos

The European Union has added adult content companies Pornhub, Stripchat, and XVideos to its list of firms subject to stringent regulations under the Digital Services Act (DSA). These new rules require companies to conduct risk management, undergo external auditing, and share data with authorities. Designated companies must tackle disinformation, provide more protection and choice to users, and ensure stronger protection for children or face fines of up to 6% of their global turnover. Pornhub fell below the user threshold for designation, but the Commission can still designate companies based on third-party information. Within four months, the designated companies must adopt measures to protect users, including minors, and mitigate any systemic risks.
