Iraq Bans Telegram App Over Personal Data Violations

Iraq's telecoms ministry has blocked the popular messaging app Telegram, citing concerns over national security and the mishandling of users' personal data. The ministry claims that the app failed to respond to requests to close down channels that leaked the data of state institutions and citizens. While acknowledging citizens' rights to freedom of expression and communication, the ministry emphasized the need to protect the security of the state and its institutions.
