Brewers’ Bold Prospect Bid Could’ve Blocked Skubal to the Dodgers

Milwaukee reportedly offered a competitive three-prospect package (led by top-100 prospect Luis Peña and another strong hitting prospect, plus a pitcher such as Brandon Sproat or Shane Drohan) to land Tarik Skubal from Detroit before the trade deadline, but the Tigers accepted the Dodgers’ deal of Zyhir Hope, River Ryan and Brady Smith. Milwaukee’s bid — with MLB-ready arms and a premier infield prospect — could’ve swung the deal if negotiations extended closer to deadline, leaving Skubal in Los Angeles as the Dodgers push for a third straight World Series title.
