India's state-run miners have signed the country's first overseas lithium exploration and mining deal with Argentina, aiming to secure lithium supplies and diversify the supply chain for critical materials. The agreement, involving five blocks in Argentina's Catamarca province, is part of India's efforts to reduce its reliance on China, which currently dominates global lithium supply. The deal comes as India joins the US-led Mineral Security Partnership and seeks to accelerate the development of sustainable critical energy minerals supply chains globally.
