"Ecuadorian Prosecutor Investigating TV Station Raid Shot and Killed Outside Court"

Ecuadorian prosecutor Cesar Suarez, who was investigating an armed raid at a TV station, was assassinated by a professional hitman in the port city of Guayaquil. Suarez, who had been involved in high-profile criminal probes, was shot in the head while driving, after leaving his office to attend a court hearing. The attack he was investigating involved hooded gunmen who raided TC Television and threatened employees with explosives. The upsurge in violence in Ecuador has been linked to its role as a cocaine outlet and alliances between domestic drug gangs and Mexican cartels.
