Cornell President Vows Action as AG Takes Over Fraternity Assault Probe

Cornell University President Michael Kotlikoff pledged immediate changes to campus safety and transparency following renewed scrutiny of a 2024 alleged gang rape. The case involves seven former Chi Phi fraternity members accused of drugging and assaulting a student, identified as Jane Doe. New York Attorney General Letitia James has taken over the criminal investigation after the state governor removed the case from local prosecutors. While the university acknowledges it must improve its response, the accused men deny wrongdoing, and no criminal charges have yet been filed.
