UK PM urges reflection after death of Cambridge professor amid plagiarism row

UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham described the death of Jason Arday, Cambridge University’s youngest Black professor accused of plagiarism, as a tragedy and a moment for reflection amid intense media scrutiny and accusations of racism. Arday was found dead in south London after resigning from Cambridge amid allegations over his credentials, with the university offering condolences while critics pressed questions about press coverage and the treatment of Black academics; IPSO complaints and broader debate over media responsibility also feature in the response.
