'Dearborn': A Powerful Reflection of the Arab American Experience in a Short Story Collection

Ghassan Zeineddine, author of the short story collection "Dearborn," explores the interconnected stories of Arab Americans in the city of Dearborn, Michigan. The collection delves into the experiences of immigrants from various faiths and professions, challenging stereotypes and highlighting the vibrant diversity of the community. Zeineddine's characters navigate complex identities and unexpected alliances, including a genderqueer butcher who finds acceptance in a Muslim-majority city council that recently banned Pride flags. The author aims to expand the world of Arab American fiction and is planning a novel based on his great grandfather's experiences as a peddler in West Virginia. Despite its unassuming appearance, Zeineddine is captivated by Dearborn's vibrancy and continues to write about the city.
