"Pentagon's Fresh Approach: Reexamining Kabul Airport Bombing Through New Witness Accounts"

The Pentagon has announced that it will conduct new witness interviews with nearly 20 service members who were wounded in the Kabul airport bombing in 2021. This decision comes after doubts were raised about the Pentagon's determination that the attack was "not preventable." The additional interviews, ordered by Gen. Michael E. Kurilla, do not formally reopen the investigation but aim to ensure that all relevant voices are heard and the facts are thoroughly examined. The move follows calls for deeper scrutiny from military families and lawmakers. The bombing, which killed 13 U.S. troops and approximately 170 Afghans, remains a low point in the Biden presidency.
