Harper: Phillies know exactly what to add by the trade deadline

Bryce Harper says it’s obvious what Philadelphia needs before the Aug. 3 trade deadline—bullpen help, lineup upgrades, or a starting pitcher. The Phillies sit 57-50, 2nd in the NL East and in the second wild-card spot, but have been poor when the top four starters aren’t on the mound (5-21 without Sánchez/Wheeler/Luzardo/Nola). Philadelphia ranks 16th in slugging (.402) with a .304 OBP. Harper, who has slumped to .163 with three homers in his past 24 games, says he hasn’t discussed moves with president Dave Dombrowski and simply wants the team to “get in” with the right pieces to reach the postseason.
