Minnesota has been ranked as the fifth-best state in the U.S. according to U.S. News & World Report's annual best states ranking. The ranking is based on more than 70 metrics across eight categories, including health care, education, economy, infrastructure, opportunity, fiscal stability, crime and corrections, and natural environment. Minnesota ranked highest in infrastructure and natural environment, while its lowest rankings were in education and health care. The report also highlighted systemic flaws in equality by state, with women earning only 90% as much as men and people of color earning significantly less than white workers.
