Federal investigation launched into Ford Explorer recall repairs.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating a recall of over 250,000 Ford Explorer SUVs due to complaints about repairs intended to prevent the vehicles from unexpectedly rolling away even while placed in park. The problem was addressed by a Ford software update designed to apply the electronic parking brake if the drive shaft failed, but two complaints from vehicle owners reported erratic behavior following the repair. No injuries were reported, and Ford is working with the NHTSA on the matter.
