Nissan Embraces Tesla's EV-charging Design for North America

Nissan has become the first Japanese automaker to adopt Tesla's electric-vehicle charging technology in the US and Canada, starting in 2025. The move is aimed at boosting EV adoption, with Nissan targeting 40% of its US vehicle sales to be fully electric by 2030. American automakers Ford, General Motors, and Rivian have also accepted Tesla's North American Charging Standard (NACS), distancing themselves from previous efforts to make the Combined Charging System (CCS) the dominant US charging standard. Nissan will provide NACS charging adapters with its Ariya EV models to enable them to charge on Tesla's Supercharger network.
