Rivian Adds Optional Captain's Chairs to R1S, Expands Six-Seat Config for 2027 Refresh

Rivian's 2027 refresh for the R1T and R1S retools trims and adds second-row captain's chairs to the R1S, enabling six or seven-seat layouts. Pricing starts at $85,885 for the R1S and $81,885 for the R1T (including destination), with EPA ranges unchanged at up to 410 miles for the R1S and 420 miles for the R1T. The six-seat setup lifts the price by roughly $4,000–$6,000 depending on trim and interior color; the captain's chairs slide, tilt, and fold flat and are heated with individual cup holders, while the bench seat remains limited to certain trims. A new Esker Silver color debuts, and a standard 20-inch wheel arrives on the R1T (optional on Performance).
