Unauthorized Learjet pilot narrowly avoids collision with JetBlue aircraft

A Learjet pilot from charter service Hop-A-Jet took off without permission at Boston's Logan International Airport, causing a near-miss with a JetBlue plane preparing to land on an intersecting runway. The JetBlue pilots estimated they were about 30 feet off the ground when the Learjet crossed in front of them. The captain of the Learjet claimed he misinterpreted the clearance due to feeling unwell, but the incident raised concerns about aviation safety, leading to a safety summit convened by the Federal Aviation Administration.
