SAP Agrees to $222 Million Settlement for Bribery Charges

Software firm SAP has agreed to pay over $220m to settle bribery charges involving government officials in South Africa, Indonesia, and other countries, with the schemes allegedly operating from 2014 to 2022. The company, headquartered in Germany, was found to have violated US laws against bribery and corruption, and will pay a $118.8m criminal fine. SAP cooperated with investigators, overhauled policies, and moved to punish and fire employees involved in the payments, with the US dropping criminal charges after three years if SAP complies with the agreement.
