BDT Capital Partners invests $125 million in Paramount Global's controlling shareholder.

Shares of Paramount Global rose over 5% after National Amusements, the company's majority voting shareholder, announced a $125 million preferred equity investment by BDT Capital Partners, whose chairman and co-CEO is known as Warren Buffett's preferred and trusted banker. Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway is Paramount's biggest institutional investor with a stake of 15.4%. The investment comes after Paramount's recent sell-off due to missed earnings and revenue estimates and a dividend cut. Loop Capital upgraded Paramount to a hold rating from a sell in light of the BDT investment, saying the financial pressure could force Paramount to find a buyer and achieve private market value.
