Amazon's cloud computing unit, AWS, has laid off several hundred workers in sales, marketing, global services, and physical stores technology teams as part of a cost-cutting effort. This move comes after CEO Andy Jassy announced the need to trim down costs due to overhiring during the pandemic. Over the past two years, Amazon has cut thousands of jobs across various divisions, including its devices and books businesses, Amazon Stores division, and media division. The company's global workforce stands at 1.5 million people.
