Beware of Evolving Gas Station Scams: Tips to Stay Safe

The Lower Marion Police Department in Pennsylvania has issued a warning about a scam called "pump switching" that occurs at gas stations. Scammers offer to pump gas for customers and either use the nozzle to fill their own vehicle or keep it active to pump gas for other customers and pocket the cash. To avoid falling victim to this scam, customers should pump their own gas, return the nozzle to the pump themselves, and wait for the transaction to end before leaving. If targeted, individuals should pull off to a safe distance, call 911, and wait for assistance.
