Whole Foods' flagship store in San Francisco witnessed hundreds of emergency calls for thefts, knife assaults, and a deadly drug overdose in the 13 months it was open. The store was also the site of 14 arrests, with visitors threatening security guards with knives and spraying employees with foam from a fire extinguisher. Whole Foods closed the store last month, citing "the safety of our team members." The area around the store has faced issues with "open-air drug use," according to the New York Times.
