Wegmans Employee Admits to Stealing Over $500k in Refund Fraud Scam.

Alicia Torres, a pharmacy technician at Wegmans Food Market in New York, pleaded guilty to wire fraud for creating fraudulent pharmacy refunds and pocketing $568,021 over almost nine years. Torres processed about 350 credit card refund requests that she had fraudulently created through the system used to fill prescriptions and duped the on-duty pharmacists to approve the transactions. She is scheduled to be sentenced on September 11 and faces a recommended sentence between 33 and 41 months.
