Bankman-Fried Fights Extradition Charges in Bahamas Court

Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder of bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX, is fighting criminal charges brought against him following his extradition from the Bahamas. His lawyers have asked the Bahamas’ Supreme Court to bar the country’s government from authorizing US prosecutors to move forward on the charges until their client has a chance to be heard. Bankman-Fried has pleaded not guilty to charges of stealing from customers, lying to investors and lenders, violating campaign finance laws, bank fraud, and bribing Chinese officials. His lawyers want US District Judge Lewis Kaplan to dismiss the charges or try them separately from seven additional charges at Bankman-Fried’s scheduled Oct. 2 trial.
