"Binance's Troubles Shake Up Crypto Market"
Bitcoin (BTC) is trading around $27,000 as investors consider the potential impact of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) lawsuit against Binance and its founder Changpeng Zhao. The largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization has fallen 3% over the past week, but some analysts believe the price drop triggered by the lawsuit "doesn't feel particularly significant." Meanwhile, Binance and the CFTC have sparred in the aftermath of the filing. The recent downside volatility is also attributed to lingering effects of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) 25 basis point interest rate hike last week and software provider MicroStrategy’s announcement on Monday that it had bought roughly $150 million more in bitcoin over the past five weeks.
