Judge Rules Changpeng Zhao Must Stay in US During Court Review

Former Binance CEO, Changpeng Zhao, may not be allowed to leave the United States as he awaits sentencing, pending a court review. A judge has stayed a decision that would have permitted Zhao to return to the United Arab Emirates, where he has family members. Zhao pleaded guilty to one felony count for failure to maintain an effective Anti-Money Laundering program during his time as CEO of Binance. He remains free to travel within the U.S. until his sentencing in February 2024, where he could face up to 18 months in prison.
