Louisiana's Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) is among the government entities and businesses affected by the MOVEit data breach, which exposed sensitive data. While there is no indication that the attackers have used or shared the data, all Louisianans should take immediate steps to safeguard their identity. The OMV believes that all Louisianans with a state-issued driver’s license, ID, or car registration have likely had their personal data exposed. The state government has recommended several steps to prevent identity theft, including freezing credit, changing passwords, and monitoring social security benefits.
