Russian State-Backed Hackers Breach Hewlett Packard Enterprise

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) disclosed in an SEC filing that it was hacked by a suspected Russian intelligence team, allowing them to steal emails from its cybersecurity employees and others, following a similar report from Microsoft. The hackers, associated with Russia’s SVR foreign intelligence service, targeted HPE's Office 365 mailboxes, with the intrusion first detected in May 2023. Both HPE and Microsoft have large numbers of government and defense customers and are working with law enforcement to investigate the breaches, which come after tightened rules for disclosure of hacking incidents.
