Mary MacCarthy, a white mother, has filed a lawsuit against Southwest Airlines, accusing them of racial profiling after a flight attendant called the police on her over suspicions of trafficking her Black daughter. The incident occurred during an emergency flight to Denver for a funeral. Although the police eventually released them, MacCarthy claims Southwest caused "extreme emotional distress" and singled them out based on the difference in skin color. The lawsuit seeks economic and compensatory damages, as well as punitive and exemplary damages. Southwest Airlines stated that they would conduct an internal review of the incident.
