"DOE's Energy Earthshot Aims to Decarbonize Transportation and Industry"
The US Department of Energy has launched the Clean Fuels & Products Shot initiative, which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from carbon-based fuels and products by developing sustainable feedstocks and conversion technologies. The initiative aims to achieve a minimum of 85% lower GHG emissions as compared to fossil-based sources by 2035 and supports the national goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. The initiative can help eliminate more than 650 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent per year by 2050 and is supported by several DOE offices, including the Bioenergy Technologies Office and the Hydrogen and Fuel Cells Technologies Office.
