Douglas County, Nebraska reports a rapid uptick in Cyclospora infections with 27 confirmed cases and 12 unconfirmed in the past four days. Epidemiologists, in coordination with the state health department, the CDC, and the FDA, are investigating whether these cases are linked to the ongoing multistate Cyclospora outbreak. Eating at Taco Bell was the most commonly reported exposure among interviewed cases. Across the U.S., nearly 7,000 cases have been identified or are under investigation, with hospitalizations reported; Cyclospora is typically food- or waterborne, not spread person-to-person.
