FDA Approves Eli Lilly's Zepbound, a Powerful New Weapon Against Obesity

The US FDA has approved Eli Lilly's new obesity drug, Zepbound, which falls in the same medication class as Ozempic and Wegovy. Zepbound, a weekly injectable drug, contains tirzepatide, the same active ingredient as Eli Lilly's diabetes drug, Mounjaro. It works by mimicking hormones that reduce food cravings and improve the body's ability to break down sugar and fat. Zepbound is approved for adults with a BMI of at least 30 or a BMI of 27 with weight-related conditions. It should be used in conjunction with a reduced calorie diet and exercise.
