FDA approves historic first RSV vaccine for older adults.

The FDA has approved the first RSV vaccine in the US, developed by GSK, for older adults. RSV is a viral infection that can cause life-threatening pneumonia and bronchiolitis, particularly in older adults and young children. Pfizer and Moderna are also developing similar RSV vaccines. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is expected to provide specific recommendations in June, and GSK anticipates having enough vaccine to meet demand for the fall and winter respiratory illness season.
