Government Relaunches Free At-Home COVID-19 Testing Program

The Biden administration has allocated $600 million to provide free at-home COVID-19 testing kits to households in the United States. Starting September 25, each household can claim up to four tests at COVIDTests.gov. The U.S. Postal Service will handle the delivery. The tests are intended for use this year, but their expiration dates may be extended if they remain effective. The initiative aims to ensure people can take a test before gathering for Thanksgiving and help mitigate the risks of importing tests from abroad. The website will remain open through the holiday season, with the possibility of an extension.
