Novavax's COVID vaccine effective against emerging variants, EU watchdog warns.

Novavax's head of research and development, Filip Dubovsky, said an updated COVID-19 vaccine the company is producing is likely to be protective against other fast-growing coronavirus variants circulating in the U.S., including the XBB.2.3 variant. The company has begun producing a version of the vaccine to target the currently dominant XBB.1.5 variant of the virus at commercial scale. Novavax is relying on a successful launch of an updated shot in time for a booster campaign this fall to improve its prospects.
