Former Massachusetts Medical Diagnostic Company Execs Charged with Hiding Defective Lead Tests

Top executives of Magellan Diagnostics, Inc. have been charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud, conspiracy to defraud an agency of the United States, and introducing misbranded medical devices into interstate commerce with intent to defraud and mislead. The charges stem from allegations that the company sold equipment that produced low lead test results for tens of thousands of patients, while knowing about a malfunction that affected the devices when used to test venous blood samples. The malfunction was allegedly hidden from customers and the FDA, causing low lead test results for vulnerable patients.
