Majority of Americans Support Auto and Hollywood Strikes, Polls Show

A Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted in the United States found that a majority of Americans, including both Democrats and Republicans, support the ongoing strikes in the auto industry and Hollywood. The poll revealed that 58% of Americans support the United Auto Workers' simultaneous strike against Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis, while 60% support the strikes by screenwriters and actors in the entertainment industry. The poll also showed that 61% of respondents believe labor unions have improved the quality of life for all Americans, and two-thirds believe that pay for CEOs and workers should increase equally. The poll comes at a time when the United States is experiencing increased union activism, with 2023 on track to become the busiest year for strikes since 2019.
