Bay Area and SoCal security guards launch broad pay-and-benefits strike

Nearly 14,000 SEIU-USWW security officers across California began a 4:30 a.m. walkout, striking at contractors that staff facilities for Amazon, Microsoft, Google, OpenAI, Anthropic, Nvidia, Netflix and more in the Bay Area and Southern California, demanding higher pay, retirement benefits, health care and improved training amid concerns about low wages and unfair labor practices; mediation is planned and workers gathered in San Francisco.
