Consolidation of Uber sexual assault cases under one federal judge

A federal judge has ruled that around 80 sexual assault cases filed against Uber can be consolidated under one judge in federal court. The cases, spanning at least 16 states, allege that Uber has not done enough to protect passengers from sexual assault and that the company's response to these incidents has been slow and inadequate. While the cases will still go to trial in their respective state jurisdictions, the consolidation will streamline pretrial matters. Uber has faced numerous lawsuits over the years related to sexual assault, but this is the first time a federal judge will oversee decisions for all of these cases.
