Judge Denies Fox News Subpoena of Soros

A judge in New York has rejected Fox News' attempt to subpoena billionaire George Soros in the ongoing legal battle between the cable news channel and voting systems company Smartmatic. The judge ruled that the request to compel Soros to provide documents and testimony was peripheral to the defamation claims made by Smartmatic against Fox. Smartmatic is suing Fox for $2.7 billion, alleging that the network knowingly allowed false information about its software to be aired. Fox recently settled separate defamation claims with Dominion Voting Systems for $787 million. The trial for the Smartmatic case is not expected until 2025.
