The settlement resolves claims made by the state, accusing Walmart of exacerbating the crisis through actions like opioid marketing and selling. The agreement allows political subdivisions involved in the Texas Opioids Multidistrict Litigation to access benefits and remediation funds by signing on to the settlement. Walmart has not yet responded to inquiries about the settlement. The OAG has secured over $2.91 billion from various companies in its litigation against the pharmaceutical industry for its role in the opioid epidemic.
